Costa Rica Caribbean Multi-Sport
Hike, Tree Climb, Zip Line, Hot Springs, and Horseback Ride, with options to Sea Kayak, Snorkel and Waterfall Rappel
So you think you've seen Costa Rica? Think again! This trip takes us well off-the-beaten tourist path to explore the best adventure destinations that this amazing country has to offer. Costa Rica, arguably the world's greatest nature/eco-adventure destination, offers far too much diversity to catch it all in one go. But if you only have one go, then make this one it!
Days 1-3 San Jose-Arenal Volcano. Transfer to renowned Arenal Volcano and surrounding tropical forest reserve. Begin with the Hanging Bridges hike, aerial paths with incredible views of the rainforest and the volcano. Visit Ecotermales La Fortuna for a relaxing visit to the hot springs. Experience the Sky Tram, including an adrenaline-packed zipline canopy tour through this beautiful cloud forest. A horseback ride through pastures and forests to La Fortuna Waterfalls and a refreshing swim in the pools cap off our visit to Arenal.
Days 4-6 Sarapiqui River-Selva Bananito. Frolic on the river, spot the flash of the blue morpho butterfly and see an abundance of birds while whitewater rafting on the Class II-III Sarapiqui River. You haven't had a good tree climb since you were a kid? Climb like an inch worm up a "broccoli" tree using a secure system of harnesses and ascenders. Or take a horseback ride in the surrounding countryside. An unforgettable hike up the Bananito riverbed into the rainforest makes over 60 river crossings. For true adventure seekers, we have an optional rappel down an 80-foot waterfall or choose to take a swim in the river instead.
Days 7-10 Puerto Viejo-Cahuita National Park-San Jose. Transfer to the south Caribbean beach of Puerto Viejo, where we experience the local Afro-Carib culture. Hike through the coastal jungle to beaches lined with coconut palms in beautiful Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. Visit the white sand beaches, calm sea of transparent waters and coral reefs of Cahuita National Park, with options to enjoy the beach, surf, sea kayak, snorkel, canopy tour or horseback ride. We have one final morning of beach time before heading back to San Jose and our farewell dinner.
